Élan López (2001 – Albacete, Spain) is a multidisciplined artist, dabbling mostly in the digital arts of illustration and comic. He probably arrived to this world with a crayon in his hands, which he used to paint on his parents’ house walls… needless to say, they might not have been too thrilled about it, but he proved to be creative and interested in arts from a very young age, though he was very much interested in every subject and discipline. What lead him to choose art over everything else was how he was able to express himself through stories and drawings, as well as manifesting his love towards other creations, including but not limited to music, books and videogames.

He started drawing as a child, but around the age of 8 is when his passion started developing, and at 12 he began exploring digital art through MS Paint, Gimp and Photoshop… and even on his old Nintendo DS. A few years later, he even added video montage to his spectrum of skills. During this period, he learnt various forms of traditional art in an art studio, featuring watercolors and oil paints among others.

He studied plastic arts at the Escuela de Arte of Albacete (EAAb) during his last two years of high school (Bachillerato), and soon after got accepted in the Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño of Alicante (EASDA) for an Illustration Degree.

During and after this time, he has worked with musicians (spanish bands such as Norwald and Lándevir) and individual clients.

The most highlighted and still on-going collaboration is with renowned dutch musician Sir Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One…) in many of his projects since 2021. This alliance includes a comic for the re-issue of the Ayreon album Universal Migrator in 2022, another comic for the Plan Nine album The Long-Lost Songs, individual artwork for merchandise and album booklets, and most recently the creation of several music and lyric videos, including We’ll Never Know – featuring Floor Jansen, and Goddamn Conspiracy, for Arjen’s upcoming solo album Songs No One Will Hear.
